IARS has always aspired to be a leader in creating new knowledge and forming public and expert opinion on matters involving youth, justice and equality. When Dr. Theo Gavrielides founded the Youth Voice Journal (YVJ) in 2009, his aim was to create a space that allowed academics and young people to publish their research on a peer-reviewed platform in the hopes that this collection of evidence-based research changes the way we view matters that affect us all. In just the first three months in 2018 and with the support of a new Content Editor, Hanin Khaddour, we have done more work on the YVJ and received more manuscripts than ever before.
Today we are extremely excited to launch the first 2018 Special Issue, with Special Guest editor Dr Jason Schaub from Birmingham University, titled Sexual Orientation and Young People. This release highlights the journey that young people face while dealing with LGBT+ issues.
The full issue can be downloaded here. The following articles that are in the issue can also be downloaded separately:

We excited to share that this year we will be publishing more YVJ Special Issues that focus on Mental Health Issues, Refugees, Young people in politics and finally Black History Month.
We currently have a call for papers for the Mental Health Special Issues and for the Special Issue covering Refugee and Asylum Seeking matters. If you are interested in submitting a paper for either Issue please refer to our editorial policy and submission guidelines.
In line with the releases of the LGBT Youth Voice Journal Special, IARS will be holding their 6th Annual International Conference, which has a day dedicated to our project, Epsilon, which supports LGBT Migrants and Refugees. If you would like to attend the conference, follow this link to find out more and register. We will be offering a limited number of bursaries of up to €200 plus the costs of registration (£70) for international participants. IARS members, worshop presenters, young people, migrants and refugees will be prioritised.
If you are interested in participating in the annual conference we have a call for abstract with a deadline for the 15th May 2018.
We are certain that our growing presence will help our charitable mission to give everyone a chance to forge a safer, fairer, and more inclusive society.
