Germany - Project Update November 2014

In November we concentrated on the preparations for the final conference in London and we developed the powerpoint presentation for the final conference in London under the title “Restorative Justice in Europe: Safeguarding Victims & Empowering Professionals - The Victims' Directive and Restorative Justice in Germany”. We presented the findings of the German part of the RJE project. The conference was very nice and interesting, especially because of the different presentations and perspectives.

Bulgaria- ICR November 2014 Update

Prof. D. Chankova took  part in the final RJE conference which was held at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in London on 19-20th November. Prof. Chankova  presented the final report regarding  RJE project in Bulgaria. She  attended the launch of  RJE book:  Gavrielides, T. (ed.)  A victim-led criminal justice system: Addressing the  paradox , London, 2014, in  which  she  has  a  chapter "More  justice for crime  victims in Bulgaria".

Greece – EPLO November 2014 update

Overall, the work of the Greek team on the RJE project was completed according to plan. During November, Prof. Artinopoulou, Ms. Michael and Ms. Liristi attended the final RJE conference which was held at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in London on 19-20th November. Prof. Artinopoulou presented the final report regarding the RJE project in Greece, under the title “Safeguarding Victims & Empowering Professionals: Restorative Justice in Greece”. Moreover, the Greek team attended the RJE book launch which was held at The Law Society on November 20th after the end of the conference. Prof. Artinopoulou and Ms. Michael have contributed in the book with a chapter-final report regarding the RJE project in Greece, under the title “Empowering Restorative Justice in Greece: One step forward for  victims”. After their returning in Greece, Prof. Artinopoulou participated at a conference. Finaly, Ms. Michael prepared a short reference regarding RJE final conference and book launch, which will be published in the peer review Greek journal “Εγκληματολογία” (“Criminology”, published by Nomiki Vivliothiki publications), while both Prof. Artinopoulou and Ms. Michael are co-authoring an article in Greek regarding the RJE project results to be published in the same peer review journal.

Project Update, RJN, November 2014

In November 2014, the last month of the RJE project, we've developed a powerpoint presentation for the international RJE closing conference. We've participated in this conference from 19 - 20 November in London and next to presenting the findings of the Dutch part of the RJE project, we've also spoken in depth with many participants about the RJE-project and it's Dutch findings and tools. 

Greece – EPLO October 2014 update

Overall, the progress of the work of the Greek team on the RJE project has continued according to plan. During October, Prof. Artinopoulou and Ms. Iro Michael prepared for their attendance at RJE final conference in London.

Germany – Project Update October 2014

In October, we uploaded the questionnaire for the survey on the victim support services, which will be activated on November 1st. Moreover, we added another question on the reachability to the victim supporting institution. In addition, we were in negotiation with Portugal to translate the English parts in the questionnaire into Portuguese. We hope that they send us the final version of the questionnaire as soon as possible.

Furthermore, we have sent out almost 300 transaction codes to 3 institutions in Germany.

Germany – Project Update September 2014

In September, we delivered our final report which also is a chapter of the IARS book "A victim-led criminal justice system: Addressing the paradox”.

We further concentrated our attention on the finalization of the questionnaire for the survey on the victim support services, to put online the survey in November. Above this we updated the Portuguese questionnaire as far as we are able to do this.

Above that we are working on the next quarterly report for the months July to September.

Project update, RJN, October 2014

On the 10th of October RJN organized the national closing seminar for the RJE project in prison Nieuwersluis. Around 65 participants came to the seminar in which Anneke van Hoek presented the results of the fieldwork RJN had executed in (juvenile) prisons. The coordinator of a pilot around the restorative handling of internal conflicts and crimes within a juvenile detention center gave a lecture to explain their working methodology and a panel of all restorative justice providers in the Netherlands who are working within the setting of (juvenile) prisons was organized.

Bulgaria - ICR October 2014 Update

Prof. Chankova’s article “Restorative Justice Potential in Bulgaria” was published in the Festschrift for 85th anniversary of Prof. Dr Dobri Dimitrov, Sofia University Publishing house, 2014. Prof. Chankova reviewed the book of David Cornwell, John Blad and Martin Wright (eds.) (2013). Civilising Criminal Justice. An International Restorative Agenda for Penal Reform. With a Foreword by John Braithwaite. Sherfield Gables: Waterside Press. The review was published In Internet Journal of Restorative Justice, October 2014.

Greece – EPLO September 2014 update

Overall, the progress of the work of the Greek team on the RJE project has continued according to plan. During September, Prof. Artinopoulou and Ms. Iro Michael finalized their book chapter/ final project report to be published in T. Gavrielides’s “A victim-led criminal justice system: Addressing the paradox”. Moreover, Prof. Artinopoulou had meetings with 15 RJ stakeholders in Greece during which she informed them about RJE project.
