We are very pleased to announce that IARS has been successful in its application to the European Commission Youth in Action Programme for action 4.1 "Support for bodies active at European level in the field of youth". IARS has been selected amongst many applicants for a Framework Partnership Agreement covering the period 2011-2013. Only one other organisation was selected from the UK.
Dr. Theo Gavrielides, Founder and Director of IARS said: "We are extremely happy and relieved with this news. What some people do not know is that IARS was originally set up as an informal European network of young people who felt passionate about informing policies affecting them. I am very proud of our young people and I am confident that they will do good justice to these public funds".
Youth in Action is the Programme the European Union has set up for young people. It aims to inspire a sense of active European citizenship, solidarity and tolerance among young Europeans and to involve them in shaping the Union's future. It promotes mobility within and beyond the EU's borders, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue, and encourages the inclusion of all young people, regardless of their educational, social and cultural background: Youth in Action is a Programme for all.
The work will commence on 1 April 2011 and will include youth-led policy at European level focusing on citizenship, social cohesion, integration, cultural awareness and equality.
Jack Lewars, one of the young Trustees of IARS said: "Winning this grant is testament to IARS' value on an international level. As a unique space in which young people can inform, influence and monitor the policies that affect them, IARS will enable young people to have a profound impact on the European Union's future. It remains our sincere belief that policy in the area of inclusion cannot be formed without reference to those it affects and we are extremely excited about having young people's views at the forefront of building a more inclusive and collectively solid EU."
