IARS has now received formal notification from London Councils of what services will cease to be funded from 30th June 2010. Money from these projects will be repatriated to London boroughs as part of the government's focus on localism. The services that London Councils currently funds were placed into 4 categories, which are explained below.
IARS is in receipt of a London Councils grant for its London Youth Volunteering project and is one of the projects that will end in June 2010. For our young people and members, this means that from July onwards IARS will no longer be able to provide any of it's Olympics related services, including its Youth Voice journal special focusing on the Olympic Games. the pan-London Youth-led Sector Policy Forum that we host will also be affected.
Category A*: Comprises services which are considered to be appropriate for pan-London funding, and also considered as falling within the funding priorities for the pan-London grants scheme beyond the end of the current funding agreements. Organisations commissioned under these services will have their funding continued, subject to satisfactory performance and resources being available, to the end of the current funding agreements and the services would be considered as future priorities under the pan-London grants scheme beyond the end of the current funding agreements.
Category A: These are also deemed to be the type of services which are appropriate for pan-London commissioning, but London Councils does not consider the services to fall within its future priorities. These services will be funded, subject to satisfactory performance and resources being available, until the end of their current funding agreements, but there would be no funding beyond the agreement end dates.
Category B: Services considered to be more appropriate for sub-regional funding arrangements. London Councils funding for these services will come to an end on 30 June 2011.
Category C: Services considered to be more appropriate for local funding arrangements. London Councils funding for these services will come to an end on 30 June 2011
