Do young people really deserve their violent reputation?

Londoners may have already seen the 99% campaign  logo while waiting for their train. We are requesting that you, as a member or IARS friend, show your solidarity to young people by signing up to the 99% pledge independently of whether you are based in London or in a far away place. It will take you only one minute. Please click here

Show your solidarity to young Londoners; sign up to the 99% pledge now!

The 'We back the 99 per cent' Pledge initiative aims to bring together organisations and groups to celebrate the 99 per cent of young people who are making a real and positive contribution to London and its diverse communities.

IARS has signed up - could you? Please forward this to two other people you work with and help us promote a more positive perception of young people.

Background information on the 99% campaign

The 99% campaign is an initiative of the London Serious Youth Violence Board (LSYVB) that rose directly from the work young people did for the Young Londoners Manifesto . IARS is a partner in this initiative as we are leading in the development and management of the LSYVB Youth Advisory Board

You can help tell the story of the 99% who are not involved in committing Serious Youth Violence and show how the 1% can also be challenged and changed to be positive members of their communities by signing the 99% pledge!

The Campaign is getting a very high recognition rate by young people and others - but we want people to see the logo well after the Tube advertising finishes - you could display it on your headed paper, website offices - anywhere where Londoners might see it - and think! Follow the link below and sign up today – it won’t take more than a minute to show your solidarity:

The Youth Advisory Board meets the media

IARS’ young people met with senior representatives from the national media on 3rd November as part of the 99% campaign to discuss the way in which young people are represented. Young participants put forward their suggestions for changes they were hopeful to see in the media. This included the involvement of young people in editorial processes with regard to stories relating to young people, including more positive stories about young people and greater use of the 99% campaign logo particularly where there are negative stories in circulation regarding young people. We look forward to seeing how the media take our recommendations forward.
